Reprise- Beth Mason on Dawn Zimmer - Hoboken Now Endorsement

Mason Endorsed Zimmer - May 19, 2009- Do You Remember When?

Here is a blast from the not so distant past. In an article on NJ.com's Hoboken Now by Carly posted on Tuesday May 19, 2009, 5:52 PM Beth Mason endorsed Dawn Zimmer "wholeheartedly". So if Beth were to run in the fall would it make these words uttered but two months ago meaningless? Beth is on record saying that Dawn has the "experience to lead Hoboken to a bright future". If she were to run and run a negative campaign typical of Swibinski (not a knock on the guy, just his campaign style and who can argue with 14-2), would that mean a flip-flop and a sorry I take back my words from Mrs. Mason? Just an little look back to keep track. Post your comments below:

Beth Mason on NJ.com's Hoboken Now May 19th, 2009:

Mason, who won 2,541 votes in her run for Hoboken mayor, has chosen to endorse Dawn Zimmer for the top spot. Beth Mason, who was an early frontrunner but then ended in third place in last Tuesday's Hoboken election, threw her support behind Dawn Zimmer in the runoff today.

...

Mason's endorsement was highly anticipated and she announced her choice this afternoon:

"Last Tuesday, Hoboken voters cried out for a much-needed change in the way our government works, and whom it works for," Mason said in a prepared statement. "I remain firmly committed to the idea of a 'One Hoboken' ticket to deliver the change the public demands. I wholeheartedly endorse Zimmer, Addeo, Morales and Bhalla, and encourage all my supporters to do whatever they can to help elect this new team for One Hoboken."

Mason's decision to support Zimmer and the others was based on a shared view of three core principles:

1. Cutting taxes by balancing the budget and eliminating wasteful spending;

2. Making government accountable to the people;

3. Implementing a smart and viable economic-development plan geared toward the improvement of Hoboken residents' quality of life, improving public safety, securing more open space and adhering to economic development plans that are in the best interests of the majority of residents.

Mason emphasized the importance of electing this particular team of council members to help Zimmer implement those programs.

"With the help of this team, Zimmer will easily be able to bring Hoboken residents the change they need," Mason said. "I believe she has the experience to lead Hoboken to a bright future, and I am equally enthusiastic and adamant about the importance of having these particular council members in place to work with other council members seeking change, and work with Zimmer to put these plans into action.
