This announcement is from the Fund for a Better Waterfront, an organization most responsible for the great waterfront access we have today in Hoboken:

The Hoboken Zoning Board has had a long history of usurping the authority of the City Council by granting numerous exceptions to the municipal zoning ordinance. One of the more egregious cases was the Zoning Board’s approval for Stevens Institute’s latest scheme for the waterfront. About FBW: In a 1990 referendum election, the voters of Hoboken defeated a massive development proposal promoted by the City of Hoboken and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PA). Subsequently, FBW was formed as a nonprofit organization to create a plan and a vision for how Hoboken's waterfront could be developed. The centerpiece of this plan is a continuous park running the length of Hoboken's riverfront. FBW has fought many battles over the past 19 years to ensure that this park be built in a manner that is unquestionably public.
