Hoboken Journal To Visit New Yankee Stadium for the First Time
I got some cheap seats (bleachers ) from a friend and will be attending my first Yankee game in the new Stadium tonight. Should be a fun experience as the weather is great and the Yankees have been doing well as of late.

The home makeover program will showcase real life experiences using Verizon’s voice, TV, and Internet services and air on local TV and online at the end of the My FiOS Home campaign.
Home Tech Makeover Prizes:
Two New Jersey winners – selected by a panel of Verizon judges – will win the Ultimate Home Entertainment Upgrade grand prize package, valued at $20,000, which includes: Free Verizon FiOS service for one year, a 55" LCD HDTV, a 40” LCD HDTV, a 5.1-Channel Blu-ray Disc Player Home Theater System, a surround sound speaker package and a laptop computer. Fledgling Blog Gains Momentum - Site Stats
I figured it was time to give my readers an update on the recent uptick in traffic numbers. Unlike another website, I am transparent about my site statistics and give you the real raw numbers. As traffic numbers go I don't care about how my site does in relation to others since it is comparing apples to oranges and the site seems to be gaining momentum. In the period from 5/1/2009 to 5/14/2009 I averaged over 80 comments per day (the rate of 29,200 per year) is just one example of such growth.
I would like to thank you my readers for showing interest in this site as it continues to develop. Most of the support has been positive but there have been bumps along the way. The issue that has come up that requires some attention by me is the comments. Yes, I have deleted the most egregious posts from my website when requested as well as monitor the comments manually to make sure I can maintain some level of decorum. I don't currently have the technical platform to do sophisticated filtering (yet) so this is a manual process. One viewer accused me of encouraging these type of comments. Nothing could be further from the truth but I do agree extra vigilance is required. Again, If you have a problem with any comment as being over the top please politely email me at kurt.gardiner@gmail.com and I will take appropriate action. I do want to keep this an open forum but if the abuse becomes too rampant I will have to do strict monitoring of each comment. I do not want to go that route.

Feel free to forward me any suggestions or even constructive criticism (no personal attacks, I know I'm fat already and need to lose weight and my height is a combination of genetics and proximity to a nuclear power plant ha ha).
Thanks again for helping grow this online community.

Dawn Zimmer Fundraiser Thursday May 21st - Host Helen Hirsch
Independent Candidate Frank Orsini Endorses Dawn Zimmer
Here is the first endorsement from one of the three Independent Candidates for Mayor in the first round of elections picking Zimmer over Cammarano for Mayor in the runoff:
Former independent Hoboken mayoral candidate
Frank Orisini endorses Zimmer
Dear Hoboken: I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me for Mayor and voted Independent in the past May 12 election.Hoboken now has a runoff election. Even though my campaign is over, I must stay true to the convictions that started my journey and now support the candidate I believe is best suited to be Mayor of Hoboken.
As I contemplate my decision, I must thoroughly reflect on the character and content of the Candidates and Campaigns of Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer and Councilman Peter Cammarano.
Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer has presented herself with a solid grasp of the issues relating to all Hoboken, as well as sincerity to work with people to solve our problems. She will listen. This is desperately needed in a City Hall that is severely divided. On issues, Dawn Zimmer is will reduce our budget and our tax burden (http://www.zimmerforchange.com/). She will do it without putting our city at risk. She is the only Mayoral Candidate speaking about recreational facilities and our quality of life with real solutions for singles, families and seniors. Dawn Zimmer believes in moving forward with energy efficiency and Green Technologies to bring jobs to Hoboken, lower our costs and lower taxes. Above all, her volunteers and workers always presented themselves with integrity and kindness – which is the reflection of a good leader. Please visit her website for more information.
Councilman Cammarano also has grasp of the issues; however, after 4 years on council, he has hung his candidacy for Mayor on ONE vote – a vote he lost. After three days of rain in May, his campaign sent out an e-mail saying that once he’s Mayor, he will develop a plan on flooding. That is 4 years too late. I did not hear anything from Councilman Cammarano in the debates regarding recreational/entertainment facilities for youth to seniors. I did not hear anything on reducing our costs thru Green Technologies. In regard to his campaign workers: my volunteers, my brother and even my girlfriend were harassed and intimidated – even after Councilman Cammarano was told about it and apologized for it.
Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer to be best suited for Mayor and I endorse and encourage everyone to vote Dawn Zimmer – and her slate of David Mello, Carol Marsh, Ravi Bhalla - on June 9. More importantly, tell a friend and make sure they vote for Dawn Zimmer and her Slate. We MUST complete our conviction and get out the Vote. City Hall must know Hoboken citizens will keep our elected officials accountable.
Dawn Zimmer is the break from the Establishment and represents the New Leadership Peter Cammarano only dreams about in his commercials and mailings. She will bring the balance needed to break from backroom politics and the Machines of today. Dawn Zimmer and her slate represent the rebirth of Hoboken and a City Hall that reaches out to all its citizens. ◦

Mason's Official Endorsement of Dawn Zimmer
Here is the official press release from Beth Mason where She endorses Dawn Zimmer for Mayor, Ravi Bhalla and her two running mates Vincent Addeo and Raulito Morales for City Council:
Councilwoman Beth Mason, who got more than 2,500 votes in last week’s mayoral election, is throwing her support behind Dawn Zimmer for Mayor and Vincent Addeo, Raul Morales II and Ravi Bhalla for City Council in the June 9 runoff election.
“Last Tuesday, Hoboken voters cried out for a much-needed change in the way our government works, and whom it works for,” Mason said. “I remain firmly committed to the idea of a ‘One Hoboken’ ticket to deliver the change the public demands. I wholeheartedly endorse Zimmer, Addeo, Morales and Bhalla, and encourage all my supporters to do whatever they can to help elect this new team for One Hoboken.”
Mason’s decision to support this team of people was based on a shared view of three core principles:
1) Cutting taxes by balancing the budget and eliminating wasteful spending;
2) Making government accountable to the people;
3) Implementing a smart and viable economic-development plan geared toward the improvement of Hoboken residents’ quality of life, improving public safety, securing more open space and adhering to economic development plans that are in the best interests of the majority of residents.
Mason emphasized the importance of electing this particular team of council members to help Zimmer implement those programs.
“With the help of this team, Zimmer will easily be able to bring Hoboken residents the change they need,” Mason said. “I believe she has the experience to lead Hoboken to a bright future, and I am equally enthusiastic and adamant about the importance of having these particular council members in place to help her put these plans into action.
“I continue to firmly believe that the way to bring true change, and true reform, to Hoboken is by building bridges between different pockets of the community to implement policies that work for all of us,” Mason went on. “Vinny Addeo is an expert in labor relations, Ravi Bhalla and Raul Morales are smart, creative and energetic attorneys, and the three of them have the desire and ability to communicate our message to a broad range of constituencies. The way to make Hoboken’s government work for all our residents is to elect this ‘One Hoboken’ ticket, offering a diverse representation of the community.” ◦
