My commentary: Here are some questions that should be asked of the HUMC:
- When in 2009 is this expected to be completed?
- How much of the municipal bond guaranteed by Hoboken has been spent/how much remains?
- How much of the municipal bond has been spent to cover operating expenses?
- Is the Hospital at least breaking even if it doesn't draw down on the bond for operating expenses?
- If there are significant cuts in State aid will the Hospital be equipped to handle it?
Remember the City of Hoboken is on the hook for the bond if HUMC goes under. I want the hospital to succeed lest those that pay taxes will be in for another round of major increases.
