Hoboken High School and the Harvard Model Congress Competition

I received an email from Rachel Grygiel & Joanne Pepe from the Hoboken High School on a successful field trip recently completed involving ten Hoboken High School students:

Hello The Hoboken Journal editor!

Hopefully you can help publicize our successful and rewarding trip to the Harvard Model Congress debate competition earlier this year in San Francisco January 23-26.

My response: Yes I can!

At the Harvard Model Congress competition , some of the sharpest students from across the country come and learn about the inner workings of the government by role playing individuals from all three branches of the US goverment and the press. Ten Hoboken High School students portrayed members of Congress and the Presidential Cabinet and learned first-hand the difficulties of the legislative process and the art of negotiation and compromise.

Participating students from Hoboken High School

HHS Students not only learned a great deal from their Harvard University student advisors, but they also commented on how working with students from varied backgrounds exposed them to different ways of looking at our nation's problems and issues.

Hopefully you can help share with people in the community the great work our students are doing!

Thanks!
