Peter Cammarano and Hoboken 411 Ad Update

Update 6/4/09 8:00 AM:

Good news, we finally have ELEC laws being properly handled over at Hoboken 411. The paid for language is finally on the ads for Peter Cammarano. Several readers have brought this my attention as my ip address is blocked to check it out myself. I am still not sure about the previous ads source that did not have the paid for language but it looks like H411 now legit on these ads. Bravo!

Reader Graphix_Avenger had sent me this a while ago but now that Hoboken 411 and Peter Cammarano have really appeared to patch things up at least in a business sense this parody seems to sum up the state of current affairs quite sarcastically:

Update 5/20/09 8:30 PM:

I bumped into Peter Cammarano during the Memorial Day Parade and he questioned me about this article. I explained to him at first when people were relaying the information to me I didn't know what to think so I tried to make a joke out of it. However when I received clarification from one of his supporters and published the email from his attourney I figured I had cleared the air. Peter explained to me that he does not mind the ad being up but would prefer if it is up that the paid for language makes it clear that the ad is not paid for by his campaign.

Update 5/20/09 5:30 PM:

Looks like more crazy making from Hoboken 411 or an honest mistake. You be the judge. One Peter Cammarano supporter had checked H411 during the day and had not seen any of the Cammarano ads at all. Again, the Peter Cammarano campaign has stressed that they did not sponsor the ads and has requested that paid for language be added to indicate who is paying for the ad. A few other posters had seen the ad in rotation and one confirmed that the Peter Cammarano ad without the paid for language is still in the rotation on that site today as of 5:00PM:

Update 5/18/2009:

I received a letter from Peter Cammarano's attorney last night that was sent to Hoboken 411. The letter clearly stated the position of the Cammarano campaign that they did not place the ad with Hoboken 411.

Also, I am getting reports from thsoe who have checked Hoboken 411 recently and it appears that the ads are no longer showing up.

Here is the content of the letter in text for readability:

"Dear Mr. Klaussen,

It was brought to our attention this weekend that your website, Hoboken411.com, was running a banner ad featuring the Cammarano for Mayor Campaign logo and slogan. Thank you very much for this contributed ad space.

This banner ad represents an in kind contribution to the Cammarano for Mayor Campaign. As such, for ELEC Reporting purposes please let the campaign know the approximate value of this contributed ad space since the content of this banner ad has not been requested, authorized, or paid for by the Cammarano for Mayor Campaign.

If you wish to continue contributing web space and running this banner ad, we ask you to include a “Paid For” line that clearly indicates that this political ad is paid for by Hoboken411.com or whichever entity.

Thank you for your time and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Michael Goldberg, Esq."

So according to Team Cammarano, the placement of his ad on Hoboken 411 was an initiative done by that website alone and NOT the Peter Cammarano campaign.

One reader Graphix_Avenger had sent in a mock photo shop comically depicting the old phrase politics makes strange bedfellows. Here is that reader's initial comment when they thought the two had patched things up:

"It truly warmed my heart to see that Peter had forgiven Perry and was advertising on his site again- which inspired the attached. Because all Peter is saying is 'give peace a chance'."

Editor's Note: I put this picture up finally because I think it stresses the absurdity that Peter Cammarano and Hoboken411 have patched things up given the personal smear launched from that website and Peter's statements a week ago. But as they say politics makes strange bedfellow's. :) Stay tuned, there could be more that develops from this.

Update 5/17/2009: I just received an email from a Peter Cammarano supporter that as a source I trust, he she sent the following for me to update:

"Hey Kurt,

Just want to inform you that Peter Cammarano is not paying for that banner on Hoboken 411. A letter will be sent on tomorrow first thing in the morning asking for the banner to be immediately removed or a paid for Hoboken 411 line be added. Just wanted to let you know so you can update your post.

Congrats by the way on Dawns big win!"

We will wait and see for tomorrow's press release from the Peter Cammarano camp. I would have emailed Hoboken 411 about this but the owner of that site doesn't answer my emails.

Original Article 5/17/2009 8:30AM:

What a difference a week makes. Last week Peter Cammarano was chastising Hoboken 411 for a smear piece that they did on him regarding aspects of his personal life when he was 18 years old.

In a public statement in front of City Hall, Peter Cammarano said the following (condensed) regarding the story on Hoboken 411: "It is a development he personally found to be disturbing, story that is nothing more than a political smear, completely false and fraudulent, without comparison, without precedent in recent Hoboken politics". He also said that the story is "the most vile, objectionable, smear that he has ever seen." In his statement to the public, Mayoral candidate Peter Cammarano also stated that he demanded a retraction.

Fast forward to today, over a week later.......

And now he it appears he is advertising on Hoboken 411. What a difference a week makes.
