More on the Anti Zimmer Fliers

Here is a follow up on the Anti Zimmer fliers mailed out over the weekend. This comes from an anonymous source that I know is credible in terms of fact gathering. Here is a little more behind the Building America Committee from my anonymous source's perspective. I find some of the counclusions that are reached to be very speculative in nature but here goes:

Building America Committee is described on its IRS filing as being “committed to building progressive infrastructure at federal, state, and local levels through issue advocacy and citizen outreach.” The committee was created just two weeks ago (May 19) by this fellow:

That’s Keith Carbone, a political worker/strategist from New Milford currently residing in Florida. He’s worked on the Obama campaign in Iowa and a council campaign in Washington, DC. He’s also worked for the BCDO – Bergen County’s version of the Hudson County Democratic Organization – and as a Bergen county canvass director for Robert Menendez for US Senate. Among his friends on Facebook is Scott Shields of White Horse Strategies, the political strategy/communications group used by Cammarano’s campaign.

Who’s paying for these mailers? Two from Building America Committee and two mailers before that from Citizens for the Future, another Washington DC PAC fronting for a political strategy firm. Cammarano is most likely skirting campaign contribution limits, evading pay-to-play laws, or hiding his benefactors from public view – or some combination of the three.

My comment: The last sentence is the opinion of my anonymous source. Of course the 4th option would be that Peter Cammarano's team has no knowledge of this group and that may very well be what his team will state. If that is so, it still must be pointed out that those two mailers were not cheap and it thus implies that some big money interests are in indeed backing Peter Cammarano either directly or indirectly. Why such interest from afar in a local election? One word: Development. Just my hypothesis.
