HOBOKEN, NJ – Pledging to lower taxes and bring integrity back to City Hall, Kimberly Glatt officially kicked off her campaign to become Hoboken’s next Mayor in front of a crowd of supporters at her headquarters at 536 Washington Street.
“It’s time for Hoboken to turn the page on the failed polices which caused our taxes to skyrocket and our city’s reputation to plummet following arrests and a state takeover, said Glatt. “I’ve always believed if you want change, you can’t just sit idly by. To bring about real change, you need to take decisive action. And that is exactly what I will do as Mayor.”
A life-long Hoboken resident, Kimberly Glatt stepped down last month after serving 14 years as Hoboken’s first female presiding Municipal Judge. From Glatt’s time in City Hall, she had a front row seat to witness how local government works – both for better and for worse. Now, Glatt is stepping up to run for Mayor, so she can lower taxes and bring integrity, leadership and experience everyone can trust back to City Hall. She promises to apply the same leadership approach as when she was Hoboken’s judge – by looking at the facts and making informed decisions. Glatt will listen to the people and work hard to change the tone and manner in which government functions.
“Enough is enough. If your name is on the ballot and you’ve been part of the past, then you’ve been part of the problem…and you can’t possibly be part of the solution,” said Glatt. “Under the current City Council’s watch, our taxes have spiked with absolutely nothing to show for it. Right now, Hoboken needs leadership grounded in integrity to revive our city.”
Kimberly Glatt grew up at 710 Washington Street – right above her father’s dentist office. She and her husband, Jay, raised their two children, Evan and Alexa, right here in Hoboken, as well. Glatt attended Stevens Academy and J.F. Brandt Middle School before graduating from St. Dominic Academy, a high school for girls in Jersey City. After graduating from Douglass College at Rutgers, Glatt went to New York Law School. For three years, she worked in the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Grand Jury and Juvenile Divisions before co-founding a private law practice in Hoboken. In 1995, Glatt was appointed Hoboken’s first female Municipal Judge, where she has presided over New Jersey’s 4th most productive municipal court.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd. Kimberly Glatt is running on Column I.
