Disturbing trends in the blogosphere: Philly charges bloggers $300 a year fee

In an article in the Washington Examiner yesterday it was reported that the city of Philadelphia, PA has instituted a $300 yearly fee for local bloggers.

In the article a local blogger Marilyn Bess who is opposed to the new fees stated :

“The real kick in the pants is that I don’t even have a full-time job, so for the city to tell me to pony up $300 for a business privilege license, pay wage tax, business privilege tax, net profits tax on a handful of money is outrageous.”
