Here is an email I received from Margaret O'Brien who I don't always see eye to eye with but that is ok by me. She did give me useful information on the statue of Jesus and its removal so I thought I would post her opinion sent to Mayor Dawn Zimmer September 22nd, 2010 on the upcoming weekend Halloween celebrations and why in her opinion we need police for this weekend.
Here is her email for civil discussion in the comments below:
Your copy...I like your site, sometimes! WE still need our cops AS THERE ARE MANY OCCASIONS LIKE THIS...(double header!)

Subject: THE RAGAMUFFIN PARADE AND
Halloween holiday, will require a LOT of police for safety as it is on a SUNDAY this year. SATURDAY NIGHT when the teenagers here go out for MISCHIEF night and the local bars are full of drinkers will also
need POLICE...that is two times the problems and the usual activities.
KEEP OUR TOWN"S CHILDREN SAFE....(last time this happened on a week end it was a ZOO in town, the traffic was HORRENDOUS and the DRUNKS WERE ALL OUT ON OVERTIME! Just thinking ahead...

Editorial Note: As reported last night, the police layoffs were reduced by 5 officers pending the restructuring approval by the HHA to include five officers as exclusively part of the Housing Authority patrols. According to Perry Belfiore this is an idea he floated out there 18 months ago. If so, great, it shows that Zimmer Administration is open to good ideas wherever they come from. Why didn't Dave Roberts or Peter Cammarano adopt this idea? Hmm. I wonder, could it be PANDERING?
If Perry Belfiore truly feels slighted for not getting credit, dare I suggest rather than have Hoboken 411 write another hit piece and have that site whine like a little petulant boy in the Lane Bajardi/Klaussen writing style we have come to identify by its smell by its sheer magnitude of spin, hate and intellectual dishonesty, maybe he should consider backing the candidate least likely to get arrested during the first month of their term. Perhaps then he will get the credit he feels he deserves. Remember winners write history, losers are blamed for it. Oh and yes, without those questionable absentees Dawn Zimmer would have won the 2009 runoff election not Peter Cammarano.
All in jest, that is afterall the trademark of this Bard of Hoboken aka Reformerus_Gianticus. I like good ideas wherever they come from :)
