Last night at Hoboken's Uptown Piers, "Black Water"(no relation to Dick Cheney) and crowd pleaser "The Fave" rocked the audience with their own original songs to benefit the Hoboken Homeless Shelter. A good turnout made for a festive evening and Cork City Pub helped out by matching the money raised at last night's fundraiser.
I was able to speak with Jaclyn Cherubini Executive Director of The Hoboken Shelter and she was proud that so far 72 people have been helped out of the state of homelessness already this year. At that rate The Hoboken Shelter will help save over 140 people from homelessness this year. The shelter houses over people nightly and serves over 300 meals daily. Their budget is sourced from grants and such but at least 1/4 of the money that they raise has to come from fundraisers like this. All proceeds from last night will go directly to the Hoboken Shelter.
Next Thursday July 7th, there will be another show at the uptown piers from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
Below are some photos and video of the event. Apologies in advance for the poor lighting quality of the video. The ultra portable camera used has its limitations in night time settings with poor lighting:
