Here is the summary from last night's council meeting:
Public Portion 8:30 and on:
A few speakers went up to talk about the City PILOTS for Church Square Towers. They did not necessarily want the aggreement to be terminated but wanted the agreement examined. Seems reasonable right? Mike Russo spoke out about the divisive emails he recieved on the topic and to some in the audience they took offense. Mike Russo understandbly has a lot at stake with this since the building is in his ward. He spoke of the need to have housing for the middle class.
Many of the firemen went up to speak about the upcomming contract negotiations as well. The room was filled with about 50-70 fighters concerned about losing their benefits. I was not able to stay for the whole meeting.
8:35PM
Resolution to go out and get appraisers for park land. Leah Healy was a speaker and she wanted to make sure that the Council's resolution was drafted to make sure it was legally correct and if an ordinance was needed. Lane Bjardi, Gary Holzman also spoke in favor of it. It was passed so now the City can hire an appraiser for potential land for the SouthWest Park.
8:17 PM
The PILOTs, Appraisal services and block 11 have been stricken. Those were numbers 3,4,6. Item 5 will go to executive session for discussion.

Speakers are up on the resolution to auction off the City Vehicles. Gary Holzman wanted a list of all City vehicles. The resolution was passed.

Meeting is underway. Helen Hirsh is up. She is going over the fact that resolutions do not mean anything if not enforced. Speakers are up about the Parking meters on Sinatra Drive. Hoboken resident Don Pelicano thinks that there is already a shortage of parking especially in the Second Ward. HPU Director Mr. Corea said it will add 150 residential permits to conteract those concerns. 12 hour meters will be one side and the permits on the other end.
The Hoboken Fire Department is here to discuss their upcoming contract. Gary Holtzman of Revolt has also arrived.
