Progressive Economic, Social and Political Philosophy

As I have said before, the financial mismangement in Hoboken has tested my liberal perspectives in the role of Government, but here is a little list re-affirming those liberal principles.

These are certainly a valid start for discussion even if you disagree with the tenets of liberalism.....

Progressive Economic, Social and Political Philosophy

1. Logic is civilization's greatest achievement.
2. Those who decry the pursuit of excellence lack ability.
3. The retreat from logic and reason is led by the intellectually lazy.
4. The absence of regulation is not good government.
5. Aristocracy is the ultimate unfairness.
6. Aristocratic inheritance is sloth, avarice, big ears and an ugly face.
7. The pursuit of profit without consideration of future effects is narcissism.
8. Deregulation is voodoo government.
9. Market competition is the faith of those afflicted with avarice.
10. Income is an index of power not worth.
11. Those who espouse rugged individualism have never been either.
12. Freedom of expression is decried by those who know they are wrong.
13. Affluence is an affront to responsibility.
14. Downsizing is disinvestment.
15. Economic relocation is treason.
16. Trickle down leaves a yellow stain.
17. The "New Deal" was the only fair deal.
18. Real profit requires a real product not a slick deal.
19. Value is a measure of effort not scarcity.
20. A flat tax is feckless evasion.
21. Profit is not virtue.
22. Decency and consideration are incompatible with an unregulated economy.
23. Progress is the improvement of circumstance for all, not profit for the few.
24. The poor are not the problem, the rich are.
25. The need for incentives is no mandate for outrageous disparity.
26. Those who care not for their brothers, care little for themselves.
27. The accumulation of wealth serves no good purpose.
28. Effort not property creates wealth.
29. The free market is worse than amoral, it's perverse.
30. Just and benevolent societies are called unworkable by those who profit from misery.
31. User fees, like a flat tax, favor only the few.
32. Small government is for the small minded.
33. Taxes are not evil but greed is.
34. The protection of wealth is an expense borne only by the poor.
35. Price is set by power, value is defined by work.
36. Entrepreneurial talent is largely a matter of luck and good employees.
37. To reward salesmen, developers, financiers and lawyers better than teachers, scientists, artists and philosophers is social irresponsibility.
38. Just because it makes a profit doesn’t mean it ought to.
39. Ownership is a fiction because no one lives forever.
40. Entrepreneurial enterprise is a myth, real success requires team work.
41. Free enterprise is a pseudonym selfishness and greed.
42. Equity is the missing ingredient in capitalism.
43. It is not open minded to accord every opinion equal credibility, some ideas are wrong.
44. Duplicity is a pseudonym for conservatism.
45. Mean spirited is another name for conservative.
46. Share not and lose your soul.
