My Response to a Comment on Comments

Here is what one anonymous poster had to say about my site since I opened up comments to anonymous posts:

Congratulations to Kurt for once again allowing his humble blog to be filled with lies, smears and sexual innuendo about private citizens.

Remember Kurt that what appears on this site reflects on you. Perhaps in your zeal to be relevant this no longer matters to you.

And for the record I am not one of the people smeared on this thread, but it is probably only a matter of time until these anonymous clowns get around to me.

Shame on you Kurt.
First off, let me manage expectations. I am a part time blogger and this poster is indeed right that I have a humble blog in terms of traffic. I do not have the time to give an immediate response to every childish post but when certain ones come up, I will address. I will also state that my traffic is growing steadily as I continue to generate some moderate amount of content but until I get on another platform for my web site there are limits to how much I can control posts.

Here are two of the comments that I could see as offensive:

Lane Bajardi is a jerk off.

The whole town hates that friggin freak.

Do you think she's sleeping with Perry or Lane?

Yuck!

Quite frankly both of these comments are not really constructive to debate and are similar to comments I have seen on other sites such as NJ.com's forum.

Addressing comment 1:
I, for one don't hate Lane Bjardi so I can safely say that not everyone in this town hates him. On the issues I generally agree with him on most things as it pertains to Hoboken policy whether it be the Hoboken School system or City Hall. I had the opportunity like Lane to be an insider on the Beth Mason campaign but I declined after realizing that I couldn't be true to myself with my opinions and stay within the discipline of her campaign.

At the time I declined to be on her campaign (last October) I was not getting a clear message from Beth directly as to what her platform would be. If it was to support Church Square Towers PILOT without due diligence , "develop or die", pick an all Russo supported slate, or call reformers "people who like to shoot holes in things" surely I would have stepped down then and certainly would now if I were still on her campaign.

That is where Lane I and differ, he is fully behind his candidate irrespective of recent votes and statements and I see limitations in each of the three main offerings. I agreed with Lane yet again last night when he blasted FXFOWLE for their arrogance and silly overbearing "Oz-like" plan. When Lane is on point is he is a talented orator. I believe it is that very trait of arrogance that Lane's detractors find most infuriating.

As Michael Jackson once sang:

"I'm Starting With The Man In The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways
And No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And Then Make A Change"

Truth be told, I saw signs of the old Beth Mason last night when she commented on the Pension Funding in terms of concern of kicking the can down the road. That is an example of the right thinking I have seen from Beth in the past when it came to fiscal prudence on budgetary matters.

Addressing comment 2:
This is just stupid and wrong. If the poster meant to metaphorical they need to do a better job.
I don't construe this as slander since it is so rediculous as to be laughable.

Over and out.

Advice:
If a post is truly getting to you and you can show it is slander of course I will pull it. Just email me at kurt.gardiner@gmail.com with an explanation.
