James Vance Responds to Dean Kemph

Here is a response letter to Dean Kemph from Jim Vance. Dean had made the following remark
in a letter to the editor regarding developments as he saw it about the Dawn Zimmer campaign
as follows:

"Of course, there are a few bright spots. Jim Vance, whose capacity to alienate is exceeded only by his capacity to annoy, is now apparently bellowing on behalf of Cammarano. If anyone has the ability to shift 500 votes away from his own candidate, it's Jim. "

For reference here is the link to the original post:

Granted, to say that is a bit of a shot is probably an big understatement. Jim sent me a letter and I think it is only appropriate to allow him a rebuttal. Here is Jim Vance's response verbatim:

Kurt, I received a note advising me there is a posts on your board by Dean Kemph entitled Darkest Before The Dawn containing complementary words about me. Since I know not about your board nor how to access it, please put up my response which follows:

Dear Dean:

Thanks for your kind words. They have inspired me to offer my thoughts.

To begin with, you may be interested to know that yesterday I won the Democratic District Committee seat here in 4-2, Dawn’s home district, running against one of her groupies. How’s that for shifting votes? Apparently my “bellowing” rings true with my many neighbors who are not blinded by Zimmer’s siren song.

Yes, being straight forward may alienate and annoy, especially those who are chagrined by my escape from Lenz’s spell. But everyone knows where I stand and apparently many agree.

My track record of community service and political activism speaks for itself; it is what helped me get elected to the committee. More important, among other good things it helped in moving Hoboken Southwest Parks Coalition’s SW6 concept forward.

Sniping from Weehawken may be great sport, but rolling up your sleeves and getting involved in community service would be much more productive.

Regards, Jim Vance

My comment: My editorial policy is always let everyone that cares to voice their opinion on my blog do so. As a duly elected Hoboken Democratic Committeeman in Ward 5-1 (yes, I won my seat on Tuesday 15-5), I pledge to work with Jim and the others elected to move the Democratic Party in Hoboken in a better direction going forward. Less than a week away the decision for Mayor and at large City Council will be made and hopefully the Democratic Party to work on its next goals after the partisanship has abated some. ◦
