City Council Recap - Appointments Appointments Appointments

Last night at the Hoboken City Council Meeting a good portion of the agenda was spent on appointments.

Toni Tomarazzo was appointed to the HUMC (Hospital) Board and immediately went to join the meeting in progress over at the Hospital that was running concurrently.

The Zoning board had a total of four appointments: two permanent and two alternates. The two permanent positions field were  James Aibel and Nancy Pincus. The two alternates were Phil Cohen and Mike Evers. Here is wishing all the new appointees luck and thanking them for their committment to Hoboken for their desire to serve.

Nancy Pincus did not make the meeting last night but was one of the people selected. NJ.com's Hoboken Now remarked that they didn't know much about her but reader Liz had some kind words about Nancy's appointment:

"I know Nancy well., a resident of Hoboken for 13 years. She's got a Bacheor of Architecture from Cooper Union, has extensive work experience as an architectural designer and project architect for major NYC firms including Beyer Bliner Belle, HLW, Gensler. She currently consults for NELSON, NY. She feels storgly about advocating for contextually sensitive design, wishes to preserve the historic character, charm and scale of our city. She looks forward to servng on the Board."

The Maxwell House Park ordinance was tabled over a number of concerns. There is no such thing as a free park afterall.

The final "nugget" of information that should be happy news to the out of town revelers that visit this town once a year to get blind stinking drunk is that it looks like we will be having the St. Patrick's Day parade in Hoboken for 2010. The City Council and the police are trying to figure out ways to make the event go smoother this year but it is a go according Nino Giacchi. You had to stay up late for this tidbit. :)

Addtional Note: For a first run the live blogging was a success last night. I had 40 commenters and  almost 600 comments. This is notable since the City feed averaged about 100 viewers. This fledgling blog will take 40% market share at this point. Spread the word. Censorship free live blogging is now part of the Hoboken Journal offerings of content. It isn't just about search engine traffic numbers, or pilfering other website's photos (H411), it is about a viable altrernative. That is why I run this site. Thanks for all my beta boys and babes who chatted online last night.
