In addition to the final verdict regarding the Hoboken mayoral election, another major decision affecting Hoboken residents will be made next week. This one will be made at a meeting of the Hudson County Planning Board.

Next Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.
567 Pavonia Ave., Jersey City

The Hudson County Planning Board will decide whether to permit further gouging out and destruction of the face of the Palisades.

OR

The board will uphold a county regulation already on the books that will protect the cliffs that rise from Jersey City up to North Bergen.

The law that forces this decision is the Steep Slope regulation which was adopted last year by the Hudson County Planning Board and affirmed by the Hudson County Board of Freeholders. Next Wednesday will be the first time the regulation will be tested. Over 2,000 residents of Hudson County and New Jersey have already signed a petition to save the Palisades by upholding this law.

Go to the Hoboken Quality of Life Coalition http://www.blogger.com/ to see further info about the matter and the petition which can be signed online. Please sign the petition and come to the board meeting. There is need for a LARGE turnout to let the Planning Board know that the people of the county and the entire state want to save what is left of the Palisades. Perhaps needless to say, there are many powerful politicians working behind the scenes to see that this regulation is not enforced. Don’t let them win.
