The ELEC Reports - Tim Occhipinti and Mike Lenz

The New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission website now has both candidate's 29-day pre-election day filings on their website: http://www.elec.state.nj.us/index.htm. The state ELEC website is hard to navigate and print out so I have taken the time to present to you for your perusal both ELEC reports from the two 4th Ward candidates for Hoboken's City Council seat for the November 2nd special election.

Mike Lenz's 10-4-2010 ELEC report for 4th Ward special election:

Tim Occhipinti's 10-4-2010 ELEC report for 4th Ward special election:

These reports show Mike Lenz with a slight lead in money raised at $22,751.24 vs. $17,849.91 for Timothy Occhipinti.

Notable donations for Mike Lenz include Peter Cunningham, Phil Cohen, James Aibel, Thomas Greaney as well as Sandra and Peter Unger. Mayor Dawn Zimmer and her husband Stan Grossbard are listed as providing a $1500 loan each.

For Tim Occhipinti the big donors are Helen Hirsch, Arlene Perez, Joe PonJoan of Quality Pro Painters, and Tom Bertoli with a generous check for $2,035.00.

Mike Lenz's HQ cost $1600 with a $800 security deposit. Another larger expense is Sam Briggs as campaign manager for $3000. Tim Occhipinti's HQ lists a rental fee to 56 Development LLC for $3000 but no deposit is listed. Instead an obligation for $5,550 is listed for the lease of the campaign HQ. Awfully nice of 56 Development LLC or could it be just a bad economy? This is a debt that Tim will have to pay off at some point unlike Cammarano who left many vendors high and dry when it came to payments for their services. Just ask Joe Bronco.

I did a search on 56 Development LLC and found out that David Lemkuhl of 1331 Grand Street in Hoboken is the managing member and registered agent of 56 Development LLC. My normal experience with landlords is that they at least want some sort of security deposit but perhaps this is an way to rent out space that would sit empty otherwise.

It should noted that big developers are not showing up yet on the ELEC reports. Check back for the 11-day report to see if there is any movement from either campaign in terms of fundage. Remember, glossy mailers aren't cheap even for a ward race that is about 1/6 of Hoboken's population. The money has to come from somewhere. ◦
