This accidental symbol of corruption has had its share of shady dealings. Diners it seems have been a favorite for corrupt political deals not just in Hoboken but in New Jersey as well. The busy nature of the place in addition to the noise makes it ideal for certain illicit transactions. Just look at a few examples from "Operation Bid Rig" and you know certain diners and eateries, through no fault of the owners are a hot bed for such illicit dealings. Kudos to the owners for the new look of the Malibu and for having a great Greek Salad which I swear by.

Perhaps the next renovation could be wiretaps installed in the booths. Oh, I kid the Mailibu. :) There is perhaps a business opportunity that could be had with links to a corruption themed diner that is being missed. It would appear that unlike Peter Cammarano and his core backers the owners of the Malibu Diner have taken the high road.
I am serious though that a corruption themed restaurant in Hoboken could be a hit. One idea I have is a bar and grill called the "Wire Tap". You can sit in booths and have your diner conversation recorded and put on tape or converted to mp3 for uploading to your USB memory stick. There would even be special sandwiches with gifts named after certain elements of Hoboken corrupt lore, The Cammarano Chicken Sandwich (with a minimum security pass), The Anthony Russo Italian sub (comes with a free tow), the Corea Kids Meal that comes with a roll of quarters, and the Schaefer (comes with paper bag full of monopoly money).
