BOE Hoboken Forum Recap 4/4/2009

From Left to Right: Ruth McCallister, Theresa Minutillo, Anthony Oland, and Maureen Sullivan

Today from 10:00am -12:00pm the School Board of Education Candidate Forum was held and four candidates of the six running participated in the Forum. This event was hosted by the Hoboken Family Alliance and moderated by Theresa Howard at the Demarest Middle School (401 Garden Street). Ruth McCallister, Theresa Minutillo, Maureen Sullivan were all in attendance from the Kids First slate and the sole member of the other slate United for Students was Anthony Oland. Frank Pupie Raia and Hector Irizarry were not in attendance to represent the other two positions on their ticket.

Before the debate began the moderator Theresa Howard had to clear up what she felt was a misconception. She stated that the Hoboken Family Alliance is not a partisan organization and does not endorse political candidates. On NJ.com earlier this week Frank Raia was quoted as saying "The Hoboken Family Alliance already endorsed the other slate, so why should I go?". The debate was congenial and very sparesly attended.

Here is the Hoboken Now article with Frank Raia's excuse for not attending:
