Hoboken, NJ September 20, 2010- The three candidates running for the Fourth Ward Council seat have been invited to participate in a Candidates’ Forum on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Jubilee Community Center 601-613 Jackson Street. The event will run from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It is sponsored by People for Open Government, Jubilee Community Center and Hoboken Quality of Life Coalition, Inc.

The council candidate incumbent is Michael Lenz who has been filling the seat previously occupied by Mayor Dawn Zimmer. The other contenders for the Council seat are Timothy Occhipinti and James Sanford. Each candidate will be asked questions, have an opportunity to respond to an opponent’s comments and to provide an opening and closing statement. Questions will be accepted from the audience and will be written on cards provided at the event. A panel composed of POG’s Liza Duval and QLC’s Helen Manogue will sort the questions by topic and select questions to be asked based on clarity of thought, legibility and the importance of the issue. Not all questions are possible to ask due to many questions on the same topic.

Bob Bowdon, former TV reporter and anchorman as well as indie movie producer will moderate the event. He has resided in Hoboken for 19 years and has presided over many previous forums sponsored by People for Open Government and Hoboken Quality of Life Coalition. Eduardo Gonzalez, Housing Authority Commissioner and Hoboken Quality of Life board member will serve as time keeper.

The three sponsoring organizations are dedicated to providing the opportunity for the voters of the 4th Ward to learn how each candidate plans to address the critical issues facing the City of Hoboken. This is a free admission community event. The general public and voters throughout the city are invited to attend. ◦
