Beth Mason - Important Meetings on Hoboken University Medical Center

Here is another email from Beth Mason on the HUMC meetings coming up that was sent out yesterday. To the readers who complain every time I put up a Beth Mason email I issue this challenge, do every thing that you can to make sure she doesn't get re-elected in the 2nd Ward and the emails will stop. Until then I will continue to publish. I can be such a sadist at times! :) While I agree with Beth Mason that the HUMC should be privatized she is going off again on these voluminous information requests with confidential information that must be redacted at significant cost. If she could somehow demonstrate the need for this information then fine. Until that time I will view her requests as simply being a nuisance and driving up the cost of government. Or simply put, "Mason sues, Zimmer solves"! Remember that quote, it will be relevant again no doubt.

Without further adieu, an email from the government in exile from camp Masonista itself....

Important Meetings on Hoboken University Medical Center

Dear Friend,

Recently Mayor Zimmer announced two stakeholder meetings to discuss several proposals that Hoboken has received from various companies seeking to buy Hoboken University Medical Center. The first meeting is Monday, October 18th from 6 to 9 p.m. The second meeting is Saturday, October 23rd from 3 to 6 p.m. At these meetings the City seeks your input to assist the board in evaluating the proposals.

Should you wish to participate in the Stakeholder Committee you must apply. You can do this by e-mailing a short cover letter and biography to mailto:hmha@hobokenumc.comor mailing to Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority, Attn: George W. Crimmins, Executive Director 308 Willow Avenue, Hoboken, NJ 07030 prior to October 16, 2010.

It is my hope this process will allow the hospital to successfully move toward privatization and relieve the Hoboken taxpayers of the guarantee of $52 million in municipal bonds and the indemnification of $65 million in union contracts. Guarantees that myself and many others opposed from the onset.

Due to the high stakes involved and the fact that this is a public hospital, I call upon Mayor Zimmer to release the proposals the board received.

Given that this is a public hospital and it is ultimately the taxpayers that are responsible, the content of the bids should be released. This will enable Hoboken taxpayers to have a full understanding of the offers that were submitted. Taking into consideration the delicate circumstances involved in these negotiations, I understand that the names of the parties who submitted these proposals will probably be redacted. It is critical that we have an open and transparent process to resolve these issues. Releasing the bids – with names redacted as necessary – will be a critical first step.

Thank you for allowing me the time to discuss this important matter. I look forward to seeing you soon. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at (201)-916-8244 or Beth@MasonCityCouncil.org.
