HOBOKEN AWARDED SPORTS EQUIPMENT GRANT, 150 JETS TICKETS FOR YOUTH

Mayor Dawn Zimmer is proud to announce that the City of Hoboken was awarded a grant through USA Football for acquiring shoulder pads and helmets for the Hoboken Police Athletic League. Equipment grants are fulfilled by Riddell, the official helmet and protective equipment partner of USA Football.

Health and Human Services Director Leo Pellegrini submitted Hoboken PAL's successful application to USA Football this past spring. In addition, through the support of the New York Jets and USA Football, Hoboken PAL has received 150 tickets to the Jets' August 21 preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“As the official youth football development partner of the NFL, the Jets and the Giants, we’re pleased to award an equipment grant to Hoboken PAL,” USA Football Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck said. “Youth football creates fun and lasting memories and emphasizes the sport’s inherent values of teamwork, discipline and responsibility as well as physical fitness to our children. And thanks to the Jets’ generosity we’re happy to extend 150 tickets to Hoboken PAL for Sunday night’s game.”

The Hoboken Recreation Division is working with Hoboken PAL football coaches to organize the game trip for youth players.

USA Football is the official youth football development partner of the NFL, each of its 32 teams and the NFL Players Association.
