Here is an email message to all members of Lower Hoboken Taxes just today. It has some useful information worth publishing:
Budget Hearing Tonight!
Tonight's City Council Meeting, 7pm at City Hall, will be a public budget hearing. The budget was introduced in December and now the public has the opportunity to speak about anything budget related. For those who missed the initial budget presentation you can find the documents here: http://www.hobokenrevolt.com/forum/topics/fy2010-budget-docs
And you can watch the presentation by Finance Director Nick Trasente on the Hoboken Revolt homepage top right corner: http://www.hobokenrevolt.com/.
LowerHobokenTaxes is happy to finally have an accurate view of the city's finances but we are concerned that no major budget cuts have been included. We learned the council finance committee is working on an amendment to the budget. Once that amendment is introduced another public hearing will be held. That hearing is tentatively scheduled for January 30th. We will keep you updated.
We encourage everyone to come to tonight's city council meeting and remind our elected officials that we expect to see budget cuts that will result in tax relief! The taxpayers of Hoboken have suffered for too long and demand results!
Hoboken Revolt is calling for public release of last years audits and we agree. Show your support for transparency in tonight's meeting! Read their statement here: http://www.hobokenrevolt.com/forum/topics/revolt-requests-public-release
