I know a real estate persona in town who many call "Hoboken Joe". Someone was renovating a unit in Hoboken and pulled up some linoleum and found a bunch of local/area newspapers underneath that are dated January 1957. This is the first in a new series will run for a while featuring ads from various companies from over 50 years ago. Thank you Joe for giving me these newspaper reminants. I salvaged what I could and had to vaccum my floor afterwards as much of the paper was quite brittle.
When I look at this ad I say wow, holy inflation Batman. Of course people didn't make as much back then so the real measure is how the average paycheck get you back then versus now at the grocery market. ◦
