Update 6/8/2010 7:05 am:
Here is another update from Peter Cunningham on the reason to get out the vote today for registered voters in column B. The dark mysterious forces of the absentee ballot are out today to take a big bite out of your wallet in terms of no-show jobs, kickbacks, friends and family PILOT plans, unnecessary subsidies and general skulduggery and fiscal malfeasance. Malibu Diner anyone? I thought at first that Peter's note might at first seem a bit harsh but there is a an old saying that "nice guys finish last". It is time that we make sure we the taxpayer take back out town from the prior plutocrats of privilege. Here is Peter's last minute update....
Dear Friends, Family and Neighbors,
It has been brought to our attention that the standard bearers of corrupt Hoboken politics are trying to mount a "write in" campaign against our democratic colleagues in Column B. This is their last stand, and as thought, they will not go quietly. Many absentee ballot applications have been submitted to the County to support their candidates in various Districts and they will be pulling out the vote all day today.
They are NOT wanted and there's NO place for them in Hoboken politics anymore. It is most critical that you find the time to cast your vote (at the very least Democratic Committee) for candidates under Column B.
Polls are open from 6am to 8pm. Please pass this note around and let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks, Peter Cunningham

Dear Friends, Family and Neighbors,
Yes, today is election day in Hoboken - again. What would we do without an election once a month, or every other month in Hoboken. But like most of our elections, they are important because you continue to have an opportunity to promote positive change and reform in Hoboken.
Committee seats by both parties are up for election and stand to achieve a series of goals for our community. I knew very little about the importance of Committee seats until I ran for council in 2007. First and foremost, your elected committee man and woman (yes, you vote for one of each), is your District representative. They work with your elected council person in identifying neighborhood issues that may need to be addressed by the City's administration. Secondly, your elected committee people become representative of a larger body that help influence support of candidates for local (County and State) and Federal partisan offices.
There are many great people from Mayor Zimmer to our current neighborhood leaders that have worked tirelessly to support positive change in Hoboken to better their communities.
As Democrats, I am asking you to support all Democratic candidates listed on the line in Column B that have worked so hard to support on going reform in Hoboken.
Polls are open from 6am to 8pm. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Peter Cunningham 5th Ward Councilman
