I received this email from AaronPrice about a Hooken group called the Hoboken Tech Meetup. Here is the email below about this relatively new oganization:
Hello -
As a Hoboken resident, I recently started the Hoboken Tech Meetup as a monthly forum for people to learn more about the technology and innovation industries in our area. We meet monthly, currently at Trinity Restaurant, and bring in 3-4 startups to present what they are working on, who are followed by a featured speaker, someone who is a successful entrepreneur. Last month's meeting saw some great startups and an inspirational talk by David Kidder, CEO and founder or Clickable.com. He has a very impressive resume, including several successful companies as well as being Ernst and Young's Entrepreneur of the Year a few years ago. He gave an outstanding talk titled, "The Startup Life."
We also got some press about the event here: www.bit.ly/HTM1news
Our next (free) event on July 26th at 6:45 pm is bringing in more start-ups and a great talk from Ben Sun (founder of blackplanet, migente, glee, asianave, and more) on why startups might NOT want to raise VC funding.
It would be great to get some more exposure of the group to Hoboken residents. Would really appreciate any kind of exposure you might be willing to give the event or group. Would be happy to discuss more
about it if you'd like.
