This well attended event had a diversified crowd and the usual politicos as well. Mayor Dawn Zimmer, Councilmen Mike Lenz, Ravi Bhalla, Peter Cunningham, Freeholder Anthony Romano, 4th Ward Candidate Timothy Occhipinti and 2nd Ward Candidate Tom Greaney. Notable absences included Beth Mason Mike Russo and Terry Castellano.
The highlight of the evening for me was when Tom Greaney was introduced to a Second Ward resident as running against Beth Mason, the woman asked "You are running against Beth Mason?", she paused and then smiled from ear to to ear and while clapping to herself, relayed to Tom and the others at the table that this is good news indeed. I can assure voters that what I know of Tom Greaney is that he is no Jesus or Messiah for the Second Ward but rather a reasonable and well qualified alternative to the poor display of governance that is currently up at the table putting up illegal resolutions that violate the Faulkner act. From my read of the reactions at the table I was at this woman's enthusiasm was shared by the others to varying degrees. Way for Tom Greaney to start off a campaign before it is even officially started!
