Jib Jab Friday- Timothy Occhipinti and Maurice Fitzgibbons Fundraiser

Today's weekly Jib Jab video features 4th Ward Candidate Timothy Occhipinti and his not so secret handler Maurice Fitzgibbons. I just found it very odd that Maurice Fitzgibbons was not mentioned as one of the key guys in Tim Caroll's Hoboken Patch writeup on Timothy's campaign profile.

I was going to cut Timmy a break this week but in response to the misleading omission in Patch and Timothy's misleading statements about the City Pool yesterday, here is a lighthearted Jib Jab video out to the populace with Timothy and 4 Maurices dancing Chippendale's style for a fundraiser. I got the idea to give it a go after the "Naked Cowboy" showed up at Frank Raia's party last night.

Enjoy, and hopefully you aren't too freaked out by it.

I can't wait for Al Sullivan's Between the Lines misinformed take on this video; you know there will be spin after all they have to do something to get Occhipinti out of the deep end after his slip on the pool deck this week. Hasn't anyone told Occhipinti pools are dangerous when the lifeguards are off duty?

I hope this video is not attempting to suggest a relationship between Maurice and Tim.
Maurice, one of the rare openly gay politicians in Hudson County should not be mocked for his sexuality or lifestyle.

MF's sexuality neither contributes to nor relieves the perception of him as 'part of the problem'. The 'rest of the problem' is overwhelmingly heterosexual in any event.

Here was my thought process behind the JibJab joke: Maurice Fitzgibbons was not mentioned in the Hoboken Patch article at all and I found that omission glaring and disingenuous given the closeness I have witnessed at past City Council meetings.

To make my comic point I overcompensated by adding Maurice as a clone 4 times. I was only commenting on the closeness of their political relationship and not anything else.

Anyone who has read my blog will know I am an advocate for gay rights and that is based on my sense of justice and fairness. If I was ever to be critical of Maurice Fitzgibbons it would be for the patronage and not his personal lifestyle. His 5-term run as freeholder is a testament to Hudson County's tolerance on this issue.

It should also be noted that I do not dislike Timothy Occhipiniti, I just feel as many other observers he does not "Stack" up as a candidate when you look at him through an objective "Lenz".

I don't expect any of these candidates who I JibJab to necessarily like me too much as evidenced by Frank Raia's tirade towards me at the big bash on Thursday night. I am not doing this blog necessarily to make friends but to provide my unique take on Hoboken events.

What is great about this country is you can JibJab Obama and Bush and not get locked up for it. Try Jibjabbing the president in Iran in this Chippendales video and see where it gets you.

Who knew about Maurice? It doesn't really matter, but not sure why the subject even came up. I did not dawn on me that there was any subtext of homo eroticism in the video, or any comment on either man's sexuality. So I guess that Horse is out of the barn for good.

I'm just concerned that Tim's opposition doesn't get tagged that way.

I mean really, why chippendales? I get the can can girls- it's a long line of political hacks, and if both guys were straight it wouldn't be an issue, the fact that one is gay and one is a younger single guy, I can see where this could go. Especially when he is referred to by some as "Timmmay!!!" when mimicking Maurice

This has gone past silly. "Timmay" has absolutely nothing to do with gay, as KS pointed out. Not sure how you got there. You are seeing insults and references that don't exist. I certainly respect your POV, but you also have to be open to the concept that you may be overly sensitive, and that sensitivity leads you to draw conclusions and perceive insults that others simply do not, and never will, see. My question about Maurice was rhetorical. My point about "outing" Maurice is that your reference seems random to me and irrelevant to the discssion, regardless of how "out" he is and has been. The entire Chippendales "franchise" has been focused on cheesy parties for women, promoting their men as attracted to women. I guess you may also see gay issues in the cheesy firemen's calendars that come out every year. BTW, I don't consider homosexuality to be a disability, and I am not real clear how you can draw an analogy here. I bet Maurice would agree.

I do not accept the equation that dwarfism which you term a disbility is somehow equated to being gay (because they are both minorities), therefore giving you special insight that all others are missing. Actually, I find the analogy offensive. Can you get married? If you have sex with your mate (I assume you to be hetero) are you committing a crime in most states? Are you condemned to hell because of your stature? Not even close. Obama as to a monkey is equal to Chippendales as to Maurice - in my opinon, not even in the same pew, church, block, neighborhood, city, state or region. That is what I think. You think differently. We will just not agree on this issue, that is all.

If this were on 411 and Perry did a satire of Mike Lenz's Campaign Chairman and Mike Lenz, we would be all over it saying how bad this is.
And get real on the "I can relate to being short" crap.
That's like saying "I get really tan in summer months- I relate to being an African American"

I'm not insane, but you are really nasty, nastier than I ever imagined.

I meant that you would be the cause of the fire since you find it so appropriate to shoot at people who support many of the same people you support politically!
And you think it's cool that your a-hole friends called you a "midget"? The word midget is nowhere near a medical diagnosis for short stature-it came from the circus promoters who kept people with dwarfism in train cars, undernourished and forced to perform in freak shows while patrons looked on.
Of course they were also pegged as "angry" and Nasty as you have called me.
Google "Angry Dwarf", or "Angry Midget" it is just as bad as calling a woman an "Angry B"

Don't project. You may be all over 411, but I don't know what I would say - it would depend on the context. But given his track record, I can't imagine him coming up with something that I would find clever or witty unlike GA.

Am not sure if I am included in the "nasty" comment, but your stature does not bestow upon you the title Oracle of Hoboken, nor are you the arbiter of PC posts. I did not question your sanity, nor do I think that a reasonble person, minority, gay, male, female, disabled, Mexican, Chinese, African or whatever, would take any comment posted here today as questionong your sanity. How did this degenrate into name calling? I am not sure how or why you equate someone disagreeing with you to being a "nasty" person.

For the first and only time in this thread I will agree with Tony - going after the opponents of those we support by making fun of them could be construed as no better than the smear merchant. Rather than even give a whiff of "We're the same as them" maybe we should stay above the fray. And by "we" I mean those that support reform. I'm in no way trying to say that any of us agree on the exact same things. Hell, I'm a republican for crying out loud!

At the risk of incurring wrath from the left and the right, I think that a little levity is good. If someone can''t take a joke, then they are probably too serious and overly concerned about offending someone's sensibilitties to be a good leader, imo. A good leader, by definition, has to tick off some part fo teh population. There are jokes and then there is absolute insult posing as wit, which is what 411 tends to employ. I recognize that there is no bright line, and that sometimes the limtis can be tested. But political satire has a long and cherished history in our country. I am not for its expulsion from the poltical scene in Hoboken. The clear difference between "reform" and the "old guard" is that "reform" has no stake in the meal ticket that government in Hoboken has become, nor in propping up hand puppet candiates to keep the gravy train flowing. I am not too concerned about what the old guard thinks as they keep their sticky fingers buried deep in my pocket. Frankly, I will gladly bash them over the head every chance I can get until the the thievery is done.

And I include in such thievery Maurice's rent controlled PILOT apartment in Chruch Towers where he can dance the night away with Timmay or whoever or what ever suits is fancy, but only if income criteria are established, the PILOT is terminated and the complex begins to shoulder its fair share of the tax burden. Until then, I still don't care with what, or with whom, he trades bodily fluids, but the fact that he is making the exchange while I am trapped into subsidizing him really pisses me off. And if a good joke at his expense gets the point across, then so be it.

Correction: Church Towers is not a rent controlled building - it is an affordable housing complex.....and you are, of course, also subsidizing the W Hotel tenants and owners - NONE of whom are moderate or low income tenants or owners.

I know what it is and I know what the W hotel is. Same church, diffrerent pew. I don't like either, but at least the W hotel brings jobs and commerce to town, i.e. there is the pretense of foreplay while I am getting screwed. CT just has a bunch of shore house owning, BMW driving leeches who don't need any subsidy sucking my tax dollars. I could support "affordable housing" if income crtieria were attached and truly needy persons resided there, and there was some assurance that it would not be populated by Russo scum and its spawn. PILOTS, iInitially a good idea, until the politician's got hold of it.

Rent control,

To me it is akin to the sperm lottery. There is no correlation between rent control in Hoboken and need. Why are some weathly persons entitled to limntis on their rents that others, arguabkle more needy and deserving, can't obtain. It makes absoleutely no sense whatsoever in its current form. Even NYC acknowledged that there had to be some connection to need/income in order to justify its existance
