H-Mag nipping at the heels of Hoboken 411 for Largest Hoboken Blog

Bimonthly publication H-Mag (h-mag.com) has a sleek and sexy website and according to Alexa.com is catching up to Hoboken 411 (hoboken411.com) in terms of reach and overall traffic.

H-mag vs. Hoboken411 in terms of reach for last 6 months

Hoboken 411 still has a higher US rank 28,114 vs. 41,179 but H-mag's website has it beat when factoring in international traffic. Maybe the reason for this is that Europeans are turned off by Hoboken 411's Glenn Beck videos and flock to H-mag instead. Ha ha. :)

Hoboken 411's reach over the last 6 months

Pageviews over the 6 months still give Hoboken 411 the edge. Well over 40% of Hoboken 411 readers arrive via search engine but the site's bounce rate is well over 70% which means people basically are one click and done. The drop off in penetration came in 2008 when Perry Klaussen went on his banning spree and saw his pageviews per user go from 15 pages per visitor to now a flaccid under 2 per visitor. "Shallow minds breed shallow" traffic one blogger has told me.

Editor's note: NJ.com's Hobokennow and Hoboken Patch are not included in this analysis since their domains span more than just Hoboken and a valid comparison of Hoboken only content can't be done using this tool. My blog is ranked 158,000 or so in the US last time I checked which isn't too bad for a part time hobby.

In all fairness, Hoboken 411 still remains the most comprehensive place to find out about businesses in town and get the biggest laugh with juvenile and twisted grade school political analysis though he isn't scooping everyone like he used to. It is one thing to blog for a hobby like myself, but there is no doubt that Perry Klaussen's bogus political stances and the way he has handled them have definitely cost his website opportunity as a future going concern. I wonder if we will see an article about Hoboken 411 on his own site about his own site, "Doomed". Would that be classified as a virtual suicide? ◦
