Tim Occhipinti and the Curious Case of Zoning Offenses Blown Off

4th Ward Councilman Tim Occhipinti received a warning and then a ticket for Zoning offences related to the signs he did not take down on HQ after the special elections in November of 2010. A zoning ticket requires a mandatory court appearance. Tim chose to blow off the first Hoboken court appearance at which point the Hoboken judge chose to send the case to Secaucus so that there were no conflicts of interest with a then sitting councilmen. The case will be heard in Seacaucus Court tomorrow Tuesday 3/22/2011 at 9:30 a.m.

Anyone up for a field trip? It would be very nice to have some coverage of the young councilmen going into, inside and leaving court. I can't make it but here is the information to the court if you are interested:

Does Tim Occhipiniti think he is above the law or did he just drop the ball? He should show up and pay the fine or contest it just like any other citizen. We must hold our elected officials to a high standard of conduct and that includes paying their tickets. We have zoning laws for a reason and you think Tim would at least respect due process as an elected official. ◦
