Peter Cammarno - Observer Highway Cleanup Recap

Here are some photos of the event Peter Cammarno held this morning to help cleanup Observer Highway a bit. Mike Novak joined later in the morning and helped out as well. Even Dave Roberts stopped by for a quick hello and picked up a windshield wiper or rubber hose and pitched in. Maurice Fitzgibbons was there as well for logistics:

Here was the initial pitch: "In honor of Earth Day, we're rolling up our sleeves, putting on gloves & cleaning up waste along Observer Highway. Even donating an hour of your time can really make a difference."

My Comment: This is reminiscent of WPA projects done during the Great Depression to cleanup the country side as well as create jobs. First Peter quotes Lincoln in his Mayoral announcement and now he emulates FDR is this worthwhile effort to clean up the streets. I participated not as a supporter of his ticket but in the spirit of this good cause. It naturally begs the question of why this stretch of Highway can't be maintained better on a consistent basis.
