Mason ELEC Report- $900 to HCDO backed Anthony Ramano

Below is a section from Beth Mason's initial ELEC filing showing that there was a disbursement to HCDO backed and recently elected county Freeholder Anthony Romano in the amount of $900 on 4/17/2009. Normally that is isn't much of a story but many of Beth Mason's backers have repeatedly beaten online and in person the drum of HCDO influence and how HCDO contributions made to Dawn Zimmer have tainted Dawn's campaign with County influences.

Granted this is money going in the other direction but this calls in to question the blatant hypocrisy of calling a candidate out on accepting contributions from the HCDO. It is true that in 2007 when Dawn ran for 4th Ward City Council she did receive contributions from the HCDO that were a fraction of her total campaign budget. If the HCDO is truly the bogeyman Beth Mason's team has spent 2 years trying to construct to further the one goal, hers, then why in Jehoshaphat is she giving money to an HCDO operative?

So here is a question regarding Beth Mason's campaign regarding the contribution to a known HCDO candidate, who is in bed with the HCDO now? Attention Marie Antoinette, you can't have you cake and eat it too (a little light hearted kidding). Better yet, pot meet kettle (not kidding).

And just in case there is any doubt which organization backed Anthony Romano check out this excerpt from a an article on NJ.com recapping the County Freeholder elections. It clearly states Captain Anthony "Stick" Romano as the HCDO backed Freeholder candidate in Hoboken.

"In Hoboken, the battle for the nomination for the seat being held by District 5 Freeholder Maurice Fitzgibbons is a three-way race, with HCDO-backed candidate Police Capt. Anthony Romano getting a boost when U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez made a few personal calls on his behalf. He led throughout the count."
