Here is a story from yesterday. US Senator Menendez who lives in Hoboken has endorsed the encumbant Jerramiah Healy and team for Jersey City Mayor. This naturally begs the question, will the Senator be weighing in on Hoboken's upcoming election or will he be sitting this one out?
Here is the first section of the endorsement:
Senator Menendez Endorses Mayor Healy
May 5th, 2009
by U.S. Senator Bob Menendez
Dear Friends,
On Monday, May 4, 2009, I held a press conference to announce my endorsement of Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and the entire Healy Team. Under Mayor Healy’s stewardship, Jersey City has made tremendous progress, and now more than ever, it is critical that we continue this important work.
Since assuming office four years ago, Mayor Healy has made public safety one of his top priorities. He has hired 260 police officers, increased the amount of crime cameras, and created a gang task force. Additionally, he has been a national a leader in the fight against illegal guns. As a result of these aggressive and strategic efforts, violent crime is down 24%.
