While Gene D. Plumber and band played last night at Hoboken's Sinatra Park, certain Hoboken/Weehawken characters came out of the woodwork and let off some crime fighting angst by getting down/cutting rug/dancing to the sounds of Gene's band.
The first guy is a regular lately at these open public shows at Sinatra Park. He is a Hoboken Superhero in his own right and my superhero name for him is "Incredibly Drunk and Dirty Dancing Guy". While he can't leap buildings in a single bound his primary power seems to be distraction and his secret weapon is no doubt whiskey breath. See this video where he expresses himself in dance in unique and interesting ways. Choreography definitely not by Twyla Tharp! :)
In all seriousness, he wasn't any kind of menace and livened the crowd a bit with his one of kind performance. He was pretty harmless really and seemed to have fun. Not to take away anything from the band but this guy was hamming it up.
The best part of the evening for me is Hoboken (and Weehaken's) very own Batman! I have been trying to get photo or videos of this guy for several months and every time I see him I don't have a camera on me. Not this time!
For those of you who are not familiar with him, he can be seen riding off work hours on his tricked out Bat Bike throughout Hoboken. Here are some photos of him earlier in the evening at Sinatra Park. I did ask where he was from and he said Weehawken and added "but he loves Hoboken". So do I and people like him make this town even more interesting. I didn't ask him any more questions since I assumed he would like to keep his true identity on the DL so that he can continue his crime fighting in the Hudson County area. Besides: I didn't want ruin the aura and mystery behind our caped crusader. Go Batman!
As the evening progressed, Batman eventually took center stage and put a hell of a dancing performance on the pavers of Sinatra Park. Batman was in a bat-tastic groove. Stay tuned: video of the performance is being processed.
Here are some pictures in the meantime:
