Kathleen Sheeder Bonanno won the Beatrice Hawley Award for her recently published book of poetry Slamming Open the Door and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for two poems from it. Kathleen was recently interviewed by Terry Gross for NPR’s Fresh Air. Her poetry has been published in Women’s Review of Books, Margie and the newly published anthology: Beloved on the Earth: 150 Poems of Grief and Gratitude which includes poems by Wendell Berry, Mary Oliver and Denise Levertov. Slamming Open the Door is currently listed as #1 in overall poetry sales on Amazon.com and has been favorably reviewed by the New York Times Book Review. Kathleen recently received the Purple Ribbon Award from the Lutheran Settlement Home for her strong commitment on behalf of domestic violence issues. Kathleen is a contributing editor of The American Poetry Review and teaches English and creative writing in Montgomery County where she lives with her husband and two dogs.
