HOBOKEN, July 23, 2009 - In a stunning development, members of the Romance Commandos were not rounded up by FBI agents today as part of a state-wide corruption and money-laundering sweep.
Local observers were surprised because the Romance Commandos are well- know by sales clerks here as habitual money-launderers. "We're always getting faded dollar bills and suspiciously shiny quarters from these guys," said an area deli owner, "how does the FBI miss evidence like that?" Some of the currency has been reported to still have soap on it, apparently from those occasions when band members plucked it out before the rinse cycle.
Sources report that no plans have been made to step down from their upcoming performance at Church Square Park on Wednesday August 5th and there doesn't seem to be any public pressure to do so.
Band leader, Tom Vincent, was unavailable for comment because he was still sleeping at press time.
