Here is another worthy charity event this week that has been scheduled:
Sponsor a Child at the Upcoming Hoboken Boys & Girls Club Steak and Burger Dinner November 12th
The Hoboken’s Boys & Girls Club will be honoring its Youth of the Year at their annual Steak and Burger Dinner to be held at the Club on Thursday, November 12th at 5:30 PM.
In addition to honoring Club members, the event gives attendees the opportunity to learn about the Boys & Girls Club and its importance in the community. Community members can purchase tickets which entitle them to two dinners, one for themselves and one for a member of the Boys & Girls Club. The pairs will meet at the Club, get acquainted, dine together, and enjoy the entertainment and awards ceremony. The Club hopes to invite 150 members but adult sponsors are still desperately needed.
This year’s awards ceremony will also honor organizations that have helped out the Club: Zog Sports New Jersey, The Hoboken Charter School, and Party With Purpose. There will be a special ceremony honoring the Memory of Jerry Molloy who was a long-time friend of the Club.
“In addition to being a great opportunity for the community to meet members of the Club and see the facility, it is an important fundraiser for us,” commented Nancy Lynch, trustee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hudson County. “Especially as governmental funding for youth programs is being reduced, the monies raised at this event will allow us to continue the mission of the Club to be The Positive Place for Kids.”
Individual tickets (for the attendee plus a Club member) are $150. Gold Tables which include 5 guests and 5 Club members are $1000 and include a listing in the dinner program. Funds raised support important youth development programs in Hoboken. The connections made and the funds raised at the Dinner will impact the children for many years to come.
Tables and tickets may be purchased online at www.bgchc.org/special-events/hobsn/hobsb09.html or by sending a check to the Hoboken Club located at 123 Jefferson Street. Checks should be made out to Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County. Please write "Hoboken Steak and Burger" in the memo line.
The Club would like to thank Dennis Alvarez of Signature Kitchen in Hoboken for his generosity in providing discounted catering for the event.
