Program Includes:
• a screening of “Leave No Soldier,” a film by Donna Bassin - an award-winning documentary about veterans helping one another deal with troubling war memories.
• a staged reading from a new play, “Flashback,” based on the 2006 book by Penny Coleman, which explores issues of post-traumatic stress injuries from the point of view of widows of Vietnam veterans who committed suicide; presented by actress Anne O'Sullivan.
• a panel discussion with the audience, focusing on ideas and programs for helping veterans and their families handle war-related problems.
The panel will include:
• filmmaker Donna Bassin
• author Penny Coleman
• Jim Fallon, Hoboken Vietnam veteran
• Jose Vasquez, New York Iraq veteran
• Roy Huelbig, Hoboken World War II veteran
• Jan Barry, coeditor of “Winning Hearts & Minds: War Poems by Vietnam Veterans”
and a founder of one of the first Vietnam veteran support groups.
Hoboken is accessible by PATH, NJ Transit trains and buses, NY Waterway ferries and the Hudson Bergen Lightrail.
