For those of you following this saga, a vagabond group of Hoboken High School Theatre Arts Club alumni decided to spend their holiday vacations mounting a show that would make Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland jealous. Their “Let’s Put On a Show” spirit has resulted in:
Hoboken High School Theatre Alumni present:
To the Stage – One Night Only!
These 35 young adults have been rehearsing for three weeks to put on a fund-raising performance for their club – the birthplace of their love for theater. Three alumni, Marleny Alonzo, Nicole Passenti and Elizabeth Morin, are the catalysts of this production, and the long-time director, Paula Ohaus, and assistant director, Jarod Ramos, are, as always, involved once more. For over a decade, the program has staged prize-winning productions like “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Ragtime,” “Annie”, “The Odyssey”, just this past December “Fires in the Mirror,” and many more. while involving students of all ages. Many of them have continued studying theater after leaving Hoboken High School.
The program for the performance has two acts. Act One is a compilation of musical highlights of the Hoboken Theatre Arts Club’s previous performances, some with the original stars. Act Two consists of new musical material inspired by the alumni’s theatrical lives after high school.
So, if you have kids, bring them! If you don’t have kids, come and experience the pride and joy of watching these wonderful performers whose talent came from the seeds planted at the Hoboken High School Theatre Arts Program. All ticket proceeds will go to benefit the present students and their future endeavors. See you there!
