Video- Mayor Dawn Zimmer on Parks

On Monday December 6, 2010  Mayor Dawn Zimmer addressed about 100 residents on the status of parks and park projects  in Hoboken, a good turnout for a cold wintry evening. I would have put this video up sooner but I had technical difficulties with YouTube that have now been resolved. Here is Dawn Zimmer's summary to the public on parks initiatives that started the meeting. Afterward the Mayor's introduction and extensive summary, the session broke into tables where citizens were able to ask questions of city officials and engineers from Boswell on the Sinatra Park plans for remediation.

Editor's Note: It goes without saying that you will not see this type of coverage on Hoboken411.com. The fact that our Mayor has made some progress on these critical issues does not fit that websites' political pro-Mason agenda. I have never made claims that my website is the most complete coverage in Hoboken but the fact that Perry Klaussen has is quite laughable given his dearth of political coverage in certain areas. Here is Mayor Dawn Zimmer in her own words in two parts.......

Update on Hoboken’s Open Space Projects
Cost-saving efforts

· The City is close to securing nearly $2 million in funding for Sinatra Park from Hudson County, the Federal Government, and Green Acres.
· The Zimmer Administration saved more than $1.1 million in grant funds that was nearly lost by restarting the stalled process for remediation of 1600 Park and Hoboken Cove.
· The City applied for $200,000 in funding from the US Soccer Foundation for a field at 1600 Park.
· The City applied for remediation grant funding for the park next to the Boys and Girls Club.
· The City applied for soil testing grant funding for the "Project Play" project at Church Square Park.
· A possible alternate design for Sinatra Park would significantly reduce the cost to rebuild the park.

These are the major initiatives that the City of Hoboken is undertaking regading Parks and Open Space:
  • Sinatra Field and Castle Point Park
  • 1600 Park/Hoboken Cove
  • Church Square Park
  • Boys and Girls Club
  • Southwest Park
  • Henkel/Cognis Site
  • 14th Street Viaduct
  • 14th Street Viaduct
  • Hoboken Housing Authority field
  • Maxwell Place
  • Pier C
