I want to start a discussion thread about parking to help keep the focus of this blog back onto topics that really matter to our city.
Here are a bunch of leading questions to get the thread going:
- Do we have enough parking in Hoboken?
- Do we have enough parking for businesses and their customers in Hoboken?
- Should Hoboken invest in Muni-meters which can increase parking 15% but cost money upfront to install?
- Should the city expand Zip Car even more?
- What about a surcharge for larger vehicles, based on weight, engine size, axle?
- Increase yearly fee for residential permits (could hurt lower income households)?
- Increase Parking fines even more?
- Should the Zoning be changed to include even more cars per new units?
- Should the City invest more in public buses to further alleviate need for cars (i.e Cross-town)?
- Should the City accelerate making bike lanes and installing bike racks?
- How about a rebate for those who do not own cars and live in the City?
Just a few ideas to get the discussion going. Please do your best to stay on topic. Thanks.
