The Great Hoboken Auction Recap

Last Saturday night on April 25th, the Hoboken Historical Museum had its annual auction to help raise funds for its operations. The event was well attended and full of local politicos. Eugene Flinn, a local area businessman was the auctioneer and I must say he did a great job. His high energy delivery and general excitement really got the audience into the event.

The most interesting auction tiem was a $1 bill that went for $40 to start off the festivities. The goal was to raise about $75,000 and there were plenty of high bids for certain items throughout. Given the prices paid for some of the items it didn't seem like there was a recession but maybe thats just because many in attendance were more well heeled than the average person. The silent auction had items that were more in the everday person's price range and a lot of people participated in that as well.

I had my eye on several things included a nice paperweight by a local artist. I let Fred Bado get the winning bid on it. I figure he could use it to make sure those PILOT agreements don't go flying away in the future. :) ◦
