The City of Hoboken will utilize a new communications service to send timely, valuable community information directly to residents using the latest technology.
Through the Nixle Community Information Service, the City of Hoboken will publish messages which will be delivered to subscribed residents instantly via cell phone text message and/or email. Residents can sign up at http://local.nixle.com/city-of-hoboken/
Messages may include inclement weather and flood advisories, cooling center information, parking restriction notices, traffic and construction advisories, news, and other relevant safety and community event information.
“Residents expect and deserve timely and relevant information,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “We are providing a variety of options for residents to receive important news directly from their government.”
In addition to viewing information on the official City website, residents can also receive information via Facebook, Twitter, and now email and text messaging.

The Nixle service is reliable and free for Hoboken to use.
Messages can be sent specifically to residents registered within as small as a ¼ mile radius of a specific location or the entire City, giving residents the opportunity to receive trustworthy and targeted information. Subscribers can also choose the way in which alerts are received, whether it is by email or text message.
